If we look at the composition of any project team in an IT company, you will notice that it comprises of few developers, a project manager, a solution architect, a DB person, and sometimes a business analyst. Infact most of the companies don’t even recruit a business analyst.
So, is business analysis optional activity while developing a solution for the client? Can we meet the client’s expectations without understanding their business needs?
The answer is a big NO, but we can not deny the fact that business analysis is still considered as an optional exercise while designing a software solution. Most of the times, it is the developers who undertake this activity and you can very well guess what will be the result in this case.
Developers try to see the clients requirements from the development perspective and technical feasibility irrespective whether the solution would meet the business needs of the organization.
So, in today’s times, where there is so much competition, it becomes very important to provide a software solution to achieve 100% customer satisfaction. We can no longer consider the business analysis as an optional exercise and business analyst as an optional profile. It is high time that the IT companies realise this need and hire a full time business analyst to provide the best services to their clients. It will in turn help them to get more business and more profits
